Activity of the Confederates in Owen, Gallatin, Carroll and Henry Counties.
Cincinnati Enquirer, OH Ed., 9/3/1864
--Reliable information was received in Covington yesterday morning stating that
the Confederates under Colonel Jesse and others, have almost complete control

a rush. The Provost Marshal of Gallatin county, and a number of citizens of
Gallatin and Owen counties reached here yesterday, deeming it unsafe to remain
at their homes, nearly all the Federal forces having been withdrawn from that
section.
