Petition of Daughters of Richard Bartleson to Rowan Co., NC Court
State of NC, Rowan Co., May Sessions 1789
Humbly complaining shewith unto your worships your petitioners Robert
Fostor and Rebecca his wife Frances Taylor and Sarah his wife Hezekiah
Fostor and Susanna his wife Thomas Taylor and Hannah his wife Jacob
Conetsor and Jane his wife shewith that the said Rebecca, Sarah, Susanna,
Hannah and Jane are the daughters of Richard Bartleson deceased and that
their said father did by his last will and testament among other things
give and bequeathe in the following, that is to say, "I give to my five
daughters Rebecca, Sarah, Susanna, Hannah and Jane two hundred acres of
land to be run off between Zacharias' and where I now live to be sold and
the price equally divided between them". Now your petitioners shew that

thus given to your petitioners by their said father unless they will
consent to have the same run in such a manner as to take in and include
all the barren land belonging to the original tract and leave for him
that is valuable which they humbly concieve is not agreable to equity or
the intention of their said father in his said will -- Your petitioners
therefore pray your worships to order and direct that the Sheriff with
a Surveyor and a Jury be directed to go on the land aforesaid and lay off
and divide the said land agreable to the said last will and testament of
their said late father Richard Bartleson deceased and your petitioners
