That Samuel Osborn-9793 who was married to Margaret Briant is the actual son of Samuel Osborn-9782 is proven by a sequence of three deeds recorded in Bristol Co., MA deed books.
Samuel Osborn-9782(marr. Jedidah Smith) was married second to Experience (Scudder) Hopkins and for a period of time lived in Chatham in Barnstable Co., MA. For some reason he purchased a couple of tracts of land in Dartmouth, Bristol Co., MA from Joseph Ellis. The first deed of interest, recorded in Bristol Co., MA Deed Book 35, page 114, Samuel Osborn-9782 sells back to Joseph Ellis part of one of the tracts of land he had earlier purchased. Samuel Osborn is show as a resident of Chatham in the deed and his wife Experience releases her dower interest in the land. That Samuel Osborn of the deed was a resident of Chatham and had wife Experience shows that he is Samuel Osborn-9782(earlier marr. Jedidah Smith). The second deed of interest is recorded in Bristol Co., MA Deed Book 36, page 296. In this deed, Samuel Osborn-9782(marr. Jedidah Smith) sells the remainder of his land in Dartmouth to his sons Samuel and Joseph. This deed provides no information on the identity of son Samuel, but the third deed of interest does. The third deed is recorded in Bristol Co., MA Deed Book 44, page 123. In this deed, dated 31 Jan 1760, Margaret Osborn of Boston, Suffolk Co., MA widow sole administrix of Samuel Osborn late of Boston dec'd intestate sells to Jane Savel of Boston widow 70 acres of land in Dartmouth, Bristol Co., MA, identified as part of 150 acres of land that Samuel Osborn formerly of Chatham purchased of Joseph Ellis and Martha his wife. This shows that Margaret Osborn was widow of Samuel Osborn who was son of Samuel Osborn-9782. Suffolk Co., MA probate records show that Margaret's husband, Samuel Osborn-9793 died in 1753. Boston marriage records show that Samuel Osborn-9793 married to Margaret Briant on 27 Oct 1746 in Boston.
