Comments

Benjamin Osborn-7146 has sometimes been assumed to be a descendant of Capt. Thomas Osborne of Henrico Co., VA. DNA evidence however has shown that Benjamin Osborn-7146 is related to Benjamin Osborn[#827] of Baltimore (now Harford) Co., MD and no relation to Capt. Thomas Osborne.

Also, unfortunately, there is a certain amount of mis-information regarding Benjamin Osborn-7146 floating about. For instance The Handbook of Texas Online states that Benjamin was born in 1783. Stephen F. Austin's Register of Families, edited by Villamae Williams, shows that Benjamin was actually age 54 when he and his family arrived in Texas, making his birthyear about 1772. While 1880 census information for one of his children indicates that Benjamin was born in SC, that cannot be the case as descendants of Benjamin Osborn-827 did not arrive in SC until about 1785. Benjamin was most likely born in NC, but possibly VA.
