Comments
Eli Osborn-5063 was a Rev. War pensioner. His pension file contain some
gross mis-information though. In order to comply with a pension bureau
request for information, Eli Osborn's son Eri wrote to the Waterbury, CT
town clerk for a record of his parent's marriage. As the record of Eli
Osborn-5063's marriage is not on record in Waterbury, but that of another
Eli Osborn is -- the record of Eli Osborn who married Rebecca Finch. This
record shows the father of Eli Osborn who married Rebecca Finch to be Elijah
Osborn. Examination of the Waterbury records shows though that Eli Osborn
son of Elijah Osborn was born in 1773, so can't be the Rev. War pensioner
Eli Osborn-5063 who was born in 1759.
Goes to show, don't depend on a record just because it is "official" -- make
sure that it at least makes sense!
