Comments
The only children for which I have direct evidence of them being children of
John Osborn-11238 are John-11240, Mary, and Ephraim shown above. John-11240
and Ephraim's births are recorded in Weymouth, MA records and John-11238 is
specified as their father. The record of Mary's marriage in Boston to John
Ross specifies that she is daugther of John of Weymouth.
Patience Osborne married Joseph Aldrich on 26 Feb 1661/2 in Braintree, MA.
The marriage record does not specify either of her parents or where she
resided. Braintree is a neighboring town to Weymouth though and there aren't
any other apparent Osborn families in the area to which she might belong that
I am currently aware of, but that doesn't mean there aren't any such
families -- so I am not currently showing Patience as a daughter of John
Osborn-11238, even though many people on the Internet show her as such.
In "History of Weymouth, Massachusetts" by George W. Chamberlain, Matthew
Osborn who died in May 1641 is given as a child of John Osborn-11238. The
evidence isn't given, but there is a citation to "Register, 3:247" which I
haven't checked out yet.
Many of the GEDCOMs posted in the RootsWeb WorldConnect Project show
additional children born in Mendon, Worcester Co., MA. I haven't checked
out the Mendon records yet, but it doesn't seem quite reasonable that John
Osborn of Weymouth would move to Mendon in Worcester Co. and then back to
Weymouth. So I find it doubtful that these additional children are really
John's
