  William Kallahar, Pvt. L. 4" KY V.C. who was a pensioner on the
  rolls of this Agency, under Certificate # 380586, and who was
  last paid at $12, to 11/4/1895, has been dropped because of death
  Dec. 1895.

Affidavit of Neighbors, Employers or those who work with Soldier
  Grant Co., KY, Pension Claim # 380586 of Wm. K(C)allaher
  Co. L Regt 4th KY Cav. Vols.:
  Statement on the health of Wm. Kallaher by Charles Scroggin.
  First became acquainted with the physical cond. of Wm. Kallaher
  about Oct. 1886 and found him suffering from disablilty or disease
  called of the lungs + I believe it to be consumption in addition
  to his leg from which he knew him to continue to suffer each year
  up to about this time 1889.
  That he lived near him from about Oct. 1886 to about Jan. 1889
  near Lawrenceville, KY.
  Affiant's opinion he was disabled for hard work to a total degree.

State of Kentucky, County of Pendleton
  On this 11th day of August A.D. 1879 personally appeared before
  me W.C. Holt, Clk of Pendleton Co., a court of Record in and for
  said County and State, William Callahar aged 49 years a resident
  Lusby Mills, County of Owen, and State of KY who being by me duly
  sworn according to law declars that he is the identical William
  Callahar who was enrolled on the [blank] day of [blank] 18[blank]
  in Co. L 4th regt of KY Vol. Cav. and who was honorable discharged
  at Macon, GA on the [blank] day of June or July 1865.  That his
  personal description is aged 49 years, gray eyes, hair light and
  gray, height 5 ft. 8 in.  While a member of said command in the
  service and in the line of his duty at Hopkinsville, KY in a
  skirmish in the winter of 1865 he recieved a gunshot wound in his
  right ankle.  He was in no hospital, but remained on duty and was
  not treated by the surgeon of the regiment but thought that said
  wound would soon get well, but said wound failed to heal but
  became a bad fever sore and was in a bad condition when he was
  discharged.  That he has not been employed in the military or
  naval service otherwise than as stated above that since leaving
  the service this applicant has resided near Lusby Mills in the
  County of Grant  and State of KY and his occupation has been
  effort to do Farm Labor that prior to his entry into the service
  above named he was a man of good sound physical health being when
  enrolled a farmer, that he is now wholly disabled from obtaining
  his subsistence by manual labor by reason of his injuries above
  discribed recieved in the service of the United States and he
  therefore makes this declaration for the purpose of being placed on
  the invalid pension rolls of the United States.  He hereby appoints
  and makes with full power of substitution and revocation James L.
  Doughty of Doudsville, KY his aty to present and prosecute this
  claim.  That his Post Office adress is [Lusbys Mill crossed out]
  Williamstown.  Signed William Callahar X his mark.  Attest
  H.J. Poor.  Stamped Dec. 18, 1879.

  Also on the same day personally come W.H. Vanlandingham of Grant
  Co., KY and J.P. Pina of Pendleton Co., KY person whom I know to
  be entitled credit and who are good moral persons and being by me
  duly sworn say that they were present and saw William Callahar
  make his mark to the foregoing declaration that they have known
  claimant for 20 years know from thier acquaintence with claimant
  that he is the identical person he says he is and they have no

  State of KY, Grant Co. ss:  In the matter of the Pension Claim #
  324220 of Wm. Kallahar Co. L 4th Regt. KY Vet. Cav. Vols.:
  On 8/28/1886, before the undersigned authority within and for
  said County and State, personally appeared Wm. Kallahar, the
  claimant who, being duly sworn, states on oath that at Albany,
  GA April 1865, while in line of duty, he contracted Rheumatism,
  commencing with fever and affecting the heart.  That he makes this
  Declaration befor the Clerk of Courts as the law requires.  That
  his Post office address is Stewartsville, Grant Co., KY.

  State of KY, Grant Co., ss:  In the matter of the Pension Claim #
  324220 of Wm. Kallahar Co. L 4th Regt KY Vet. Cav. Vols.:
  On 7/18/1887, before the undersigned authority within and for said
  Co. and State, personally appeared Wm. Kallahar who, being duly
  sworn, states on oath that he spells his name Wm. Kallahar instead
  of Kallahan.  Signed Wm. Kallahar X his mark.  Wit: Sam. Rogers,
  T.W. Pifes.  Typed note on affidavit: The name is spelled Wm.
  Kallahar.

Affidavit for General Purposes.
  State of IN, Bartholomew Co., ss:  In the matter of the Pension
  Claim # [blanks].  On 12/5/1885, before the undersigned authority
  within and for said Co. and St., personally appeared Dr. Charles
  H. Butler aged 65 years a citizen of Clifford Co. + St. above
  named who being duly sworn, states on oath that he was Surgeon
  4th KY Vet. Cav. and knew Wm. Kallahar of Co. L to have a gunshot
  in right leg near the ankle about 12/10/1864 for which he was
  treated by affiant at the time said wound was recieved at or near
  Hopinsville on or about 12/10/1864 while in the performance of his
  duty as a soldier.  Said Kallahar also had rheumatism about March
  1865 for which he was treated by affiant until he was discharged

Affidavit for General Purposes.
  St. of KY, Boone Co., ss:  In the matter of the Pension Claim #
  324220 of Wm. Kallahan Co. L 4th Regt. KY Vet. Cav. Vols.:
  On 8/25/1886, before the undersigned authority within and for said
  Co. and St., personally appeared Dr. R.A. Edwards who, being duly
  sworn, states on oath that in addition to what he has heretofore
  stated, he now states, that Wm. Kallahar was also suffering with
  Rheumatism and that affiant treated him for same.  That about
  fifteen years ago he noticed that the claimants heart had become
  affects and that this heart trouble is no doubt a result of the
  Rheumatism.  That claimant above named still continues to suffer
  from these diseases and that affiant has treated him at times for
  said diseases for the past fifteen years.  Post Office address is

Affidavit of Neighbors, Employers or those who worked with the Soldier.
  St. of KY, Grant Co., ss.  On 5/19/1885, before the undersigned
  authority within and for said Co. and St. personally appeared
  E.K. Lummis, John Wilds who, being duly sworn, states on oath that
  he first became acquainted with the physical condition of William
  Calahan Kalahar? after his return from [blanks] about Oct. 1878,
  and found him then suffering from disability or disease called
  I did not or I do not remember at this time what it was from which
  he knew him to continue to suffer each year up to about 1885.
  That he lived near him from about 1880 to 1885, near Stewartsville
  P.O.  That it is believed the above originated in the U.S. Service.
  The progress and symptoms of this disease have been as follows:
  I first got aquainted with William Kelahan in the fall of 1862 in
  the 32d reg of KY Vols. and if he was disabled at that time in any
  way I never new it.  About the next acquaintance I had with him was
  in the fall of 78 when I hired him to do some work for me and he
  seemed not to be stout and quit on acount of his health.  I live
  not far from him + have for several years.  I know he complains a
  great deal of his health and I further know he has a very bad
  looking leg.  The following is the testimony of John Wilds.  I
  first become acquainted with William Calahan in the fall of 1862
  and his health was good at that time.  I next met with him or
  employed him to work for me in 1877 and his health was not good at
  time.  Not able to do more than 1/3 labor.

St. of KY, Grant Co.
  On this 28th day of March 1885 came G.W. Smith who says in relation
  to original pension claim of William Kallahan late of Co. L 4th
  KY Cav. -- as follows:  My residence and Post Office address is
  Lusbys Mills, Owen Co., St. of KY.  I knew the applicant Wm.
  Kallahain in said Co. of Owen in 1877, at which time said applicant
  made application to the Owen Court of Claims for a release from road
  tax on account of disablility arising from having received a gun
  shot wound in right ankle.  I then examined his leg and found it in
  a very bad condition.  In consequence of said disability his request
  was granted by the court of which I was then a member.  I have no
  interest in the claim.  Signed G.W. Smith, J.O.P.  Subscribed and
  sworn to before me by Geo. Smith this 28th day of March, 1885.
