Timothy Osborn, 1734 to approx. 1799

By Steve Mecham

Timothy Osborn, was baptized Oct. 20, 1734, in the Congregation Church of Durham, Middlesex, Connecticut, the son of Samuel Osborn and Hannah Beach. He with his family relocated to Hebron, Tolland, Connecticut approximately in 1736/1737. Timothy Osborn married 1st. Sarah Green (born ). They were only married a few months, before she died Oct. 15, 1758 in Hebron. Timothy Osborn participated in the French and Indian War in 1759 in Capt. Noah Humphrey’s of the first Connecticut Regiment commanded by Col. Phineas Lyman in 1759. He relocated to Torrington, Litchfield, Connecticut in 1761. He married 2nd Susannah Higley (daughter of Isaac Higley and Sarah Porter) 28 Febuary 1764 in Torrington. They relocated from Torrington to Hebron, Washington County in approximately 1796 and were still residing there in 1799. I have found no further records for them after this time period. There is a Timothy Osborn found residing in Canaan, Columbia County, New York in 1790. I have been unable to confirm definitively if this is the same above mentioned Timothy Osborn born in 1734.

Children born to Timothy Osborn and Susannah Higley Osborn:

He married Susannah Dickerman in 1794, probably in Washington County, New York, 2nd Lois ____ in about 1816/1817 in Erie county, Pennsylvania, and 3rd Parthenia Milks in about 1848 in Erie County, PA. This marriage was annulled in 1849. He died 28 Sept. 1857 in Girard Township, Erie county, Pennsylvania.

Susannah Osborn, born 10 March 1770 in Torrington, Litchfield, Connecticut, she was baptized into the Congregation Church in Torrington on 15 July 1770 by Rev. Nathaniel Roberts.
