This deed made this ninth day of February A.D. 1853 by Elizabeth Osborn,
late Elizabeth Whited, as guardian of Lucinda (or Lucy) Whited and Ephraim
Whited minor heirs of James Whited party of the first part and John H.
Murphy of the second part, witnesses, that when as at a term of the county
court of Desmoines County Sate of Iowa, held on Monday February 7th 1853
among other the following proceedings were had: to wit: "Guardianship of
the minor heirs of James Whited, dec'd: On this day came on for hearing the
petition of Elizabeth Osborn formerly Whited the guardian of Lucinda Whited
and Ephraim Whited, minor and heirs at law of James Whited deceased for
license to sell the real estate belonging to said minors to with : all
their inters in the following tract or parcel of land lying and being
situated in Desmoines County, State of Iowa to wit: the west half of the
southwest quarter of Section Twenty eight (28) in Township sixty nine (69)
North of range three west and therefore it being proved to the satisfaction
of the court that notice as required by law and as directed by the court,
has been give, said minors of the hearing of said petition they not
appearing to object thereto and the court being satisfied that it is to the
interest of said minors that their said real estate be sold and the
proceeds used as set forth in said petition. It is therefore ordered that
said guardian may sell the same either at public or private sale and on
such terms as to her may seem most to the interest of said minors and
whereas said guardian, party of the first part in accordance with the
powers vested in her by said decree has bargained and sold the inters of
said minors in said real estate to said party of the second part at private
sale for the sum of one hundred and sixty dollars, the receipt of which is
hereby acknowledged. Now know all men that said party of the first part in
consideration of the premises and of the sum on one hundred and sixty
dollars, the purchase money aforesaid, does hereby convey to said Party of
the second part all the right, title and interest of said minors in and to
the said west half of the southwest quarter of section twenty eight
township sixty nine north of range three west in said county and state, and
said party of the first part, as guardian, as aforesaid warrants the title
to the same against the lawful claims of all persons whomsoever.
In testimony whereof said party of the first part hereunto set s her hand
as guardian, as aforesaid. The day and year first above written

Know all men that we Abraham Osborn and Elizabeth Osborn (formerly
Elizabeth Whited) J. R. Lent and Sarah Jane Lent (formerly Sarah Jane
Whited) Jonathon J. Whited, Henry M. Rogers and Paulina Robers (late
Paulina Whited) Benjamin Walker and Maryan Walker, Late Maryan Whited) in
consideration of five hundred dollars paid by John H. Murphy hereby convey
to said John H. Murphy all our right title and interest in and to the west
half of the southwest quarter of section twenty eight (28) in Township
sixty nine (69) north of Range three (3) west in Demoines County, Sate of
Iowa and we hereby warrant the same against the lawful claims of all
persons whomsoever, witness our hands thi snith day of February A.D. 1853.

Mary (Shepard) Osborn Burial
Mary Shepard, Abraham's first wife, died in Dearborn County, Indiana and
originally was buried in Newtown Cemetery in Lawrenceburg, but due to floods
those graves were moved to Greendale Cemetery in Greendale, Indiana. Her
stone reads:

[Note: After Abraham's death in 1869, Elizabeth moved to Lane County and
lived with her son Ephraim. There she married again to James Moore
1 January 1871. She died there 2 March 1879. These last two statements
are recorded in the Osborn bible. I don't have primary sources for them.
